After my quick trip out of the country to Singapore, I went directly to the beach town of Seminyak. It is below the surf town of Canggu and above party town of Kuta. J.L. Kayu from J.L. Drupadi to the beach and  H.L. Petitegenet to the beach seem to be the main happening roads.

Day 55-58: April 30-May 3rd,2018. The Great Barrier Reef!

From April 30- May 3rd, I did my first ever live a board trip with Mike Ball and dove the magnificent Great Barrier Reef with the 3 day/12 dive Fly Dive Cod Hole boat trip. It was advertised as the best Cairns dive expedition for the average diver and included the Ribbon Reefs which offered excellent biodiversity.

Day 29: Sunday, April 1st, 2018. Visit to the Cradle of Humankind and the Lion and Rhino reserve

Visited the World Heritage site called the Cradle of Humankind Museum about 1 hour north of Johannesburg where early hominid remains were found of the Homo Habilis (right before Homo Sapians appeared) about 190,000 years ago.The most famous found were the Taung Child “little foot” and “Mrs. Ples” of the 15 hominid remains found. There were caves such as the Sterkfontein Caves which were a major excavation site in Maropeng ( means returning to site of origin).

Kruger and South Africa tips and observations

Kruger National Park observations and tips:

It’s nice to stay in a camp for night within the park and do included safari’s and bush walks ( such as Umkumbe, Olifants, etc). It is also expensive about $300 USD per person and up and different options from camping to more luxurious accommodations. You can only do an organized night safari ( not self drive as the park closes at 6pm).

Day 28: Saturday, March 31st, 2018. Melville and Nelson Mandela’s home

Ate brunch at Pablo Egg-Go-Bar in Melville. Had a poached egg and yummy flat bread.

Taught yoga at Emmarentia Park and had some little girls and a lady who worked in advertising who was going to travel for a while.

Visited the home of Nelson Mandela who fought against the Apartheid (systematic racial segregation). His home is on the famous Vilakazi street where it is known for having 2 noble peace prize winners there including Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu.
